Behind the Mic – a Letter from the News and Public Affairs Director

September 27, 2017

It has been a busy start to the academic year, which means that WRFW is back on air with student programming! Among the usual lineup is the News and Public Affairs Hour (NPAH) that airs Monday through Friday from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The NPAH includes the nightly newscast from Wisconsin Public Radio followed by student-produced public affairs programming such as “Talk Matters” with the Communications Department, along with “Flightline” and the “Chancellor’s Café,” which will be the first regularly scheduled show with Chancellor Van Galen in the station’s history.

In addition to regular programming, WRFW is hosting their first “Welcome Home Week” series Oct. 2-6 that will feature prominent alumni and friends of the university being interviewed about their time at UW-River Falls. The lineup includes: the Fabulous Farm Babe Pam Jahnke, MPR’s Cathy Wurzer, space shuttle commander Dan Brandenstein, KARE 11 reporter Boyd Huppert and Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association Ambassador Andy Miller. The interviews will air during the News and Public Affairs Hour.

I would personally like to extend an invitation to join the News and Public Affairs team. I am looking for news anchors, reporters, hosts and producers for both newscasts and public affairs shows. If you are interested please email me at christopher.gregg@my.uwrf.edu.
