Between April 9 and 12, the UW–River Falls Music and Stage and Screen Arts Department staged its production of The Drowsy Chaperone, featuring Mary Rother as Janet, Emerson Fahey as Drowsy, Jack Sonnek as George and Ryan S. Bartley as Man in Chair. The musical centers on a fictional 1920s show that the Man in Chair plays for the audience, pausing throughout to offer commentary on the story and its imagined performers.

The department had originally planned to produce The Music Man but changed course shortly before production began. The shift did not appear to affect the final result. Audience members responded enthusiastically, with punchlines drawing frequent laughter and musical numbers receiving strong applause.

Typically, the department announces the following year’s production after the current show closes, but no announcement has been made this year
