The University of Wisconsin-River Falls baseball team held a non-conference home opener game on Mar. 25 at First National Bank of River Falls Field, falling short to Bethel University with a final score of 22-15.
The Falcons struck early, with #4 Max Krebs hitting a first-inning home run, which was his first career home run. Additionally, the run evened the score at 1-1.
UWRF capitalized on walks and timely hitting to climb back later in the game, but Bethel answered quickly. The Royals scored five runs in the eighth and added five more in the ninth to create a wide separation in the later innings.
The Falcons finished with 13 hits and drew 12 walks in the game. They placed runners on base consistently against Bethel’s strong pitching staff.
UW-River Falls opened its 2026 WIAC schedule with a four-game road series at UW-La Crosse on Mar. 28. Both games also ended in an unfortunate loss for the Falcons, however, the season has only just begun.
