The University of Wisconsin-River Falls baseball team is back from a 21-year hiatus after the program was suspended in 2002. The UWRF Baseball team had to build from the ground up for the 2025 season, a large majority of the team are freshman. While working hard to compete against other schools in the WIAC conference, the River Falls Falcons competed in a double header at home against the St. Scholastica Saints on April 10.
The cloudy afternoon began with a high lead from the Falcons, with a score of 12-3 at the of the 7th inning. This then fell to a quick loss against the Saints in the second game that evening. With a score of 2-3, the Falcons stayed strong and confident which lead to them playing well in their following game that week.
Ranked number seven of eight in the WIAC division, the UWRF baseball team holds a record of 5-13, with a 12-18 overall outside of WIAC. The St. Scholastica Saints hold a game record of 14-15 which is average compared to their last few seasons.
The 12 runs that were scored in the first game of the double header were made by J. Castillo, T. Hraby, K. Paulsen, M. Krebs, T. Hraby, C. Bruett, K. Twombly, M. Krebs, J. Castillo, K. Zabielski and T. Hraby. The Falcons scored two points in the following game that afternoon which were made by T. Hraby and R. Eckerle. For UWRF, this year’s baseball season comes to an end May 3 where the Falcons will face against a rival school, the UW-Eau Claire Blugolds.
