UWRF history club holds haunted tour

November 11, 2025

The UWRF History Club kicked off its return to campus life this fall with the Haunted Campus Tour. The event was open to students and community members in River Falls who were interested in learning the history of buildings on campus and any paranormal experiences within them.

Staring at North Hall, small groups were taken to explore the history and tales of campus. They shared stories about ghost sightings and even rumored Sanford Syse encounters.

The tour was a small but important achievement for the club. It had been inactive for about a year before being revived in the spring of 2025. The last haunted tour was last held in 2018. Club members Kinsey Peterson and Olive Krueger created the tour script using an old tour document. Their research combined firsthand accounts and campus legends passed down over the years.

The History Club aims to create opportunities for students to engage with the past in hands-on and creative ways. From historical trips to guest speakers and community partnerships, the club offers students a chance to explore history beyond the classroom.

On Nov. 6, the director, Katie Henry, and curator, Kylie Foss, of the Octagon House Museum, will visit the University Center in room 332 at five o’clock on November 13th to share their experience of history as a career field. Following that, they will host the club at the museum for a behind-the-scenes look.
