Coach profile: Sean McKuras

Sean McKuras is his 16th year as coach of the UWRF women’s soccer team, with a career record of 142-131-26. He has helped guide the team to a 3-5 record this season, with a few tough losses at home in the opening weeks. Coming off of a 7-0 over Northland on Sunday, the team heads into WIAC conference play looking to improve on their sixth-place conference finish last season.

The Falcons softball team had a strong home opener on Saturday, April 8, taking down UW-Stevens Point 9-8 and 6-4 to sweep the Pointers and collect its first WIAC wins of the year.

Athlete of the week: Amber Galloway

Amber Galloway, a junior second baseman from Cottage Grove, Minnesota, finished the week with a spectacular hitting performance. Galloway went 8 for 17 on the weekend with a .526 on base percentage.

Athlete of the week: Grace Curran

Grace Curran, a senior from Taylor, Wisconsin, put in a strong performance in all three of her running events on Saturday at the Hamline Invitational. Curran finished fifth in the 100m dash with a time of 12.73 seconds and No. 12 in the 200m at 26.60 seconds. She also ran a great season opener of 16.38 seconds in the 100m hurdles.
