Survey reveals campus limitations for disabled
The UW-River Falls 2012 senior social work class surveyed the campus and how disability friendly it is or is not. The class is doing this survey as a follow-up on a previous survey done in 2003 by the then senior social class, which found campus to be limiting, social work professor Nora Bedard said.

SALSA strives to create a sustainable campus
UW-River Falls has close to 200 student organizations. One started this year is SALSA, which stands for Student Alliance for Local and Sustainable Agriculture.

Annual Unity in the Community event celebrates diversity
UW-River Falls will have its 19th annual Unity in the Community event throughout the day on campus and in the evening downtown to promote diversity on April 25.

UWRF track record broken
“The biggest thing is it’s the first men’s national championship ever,” said Torrion Amie, assistant track and field coach. Freshman Mike Sandle won the national title in the triple jump at the NCAA Indoor National Championships track and field meet held at Grinnell College in early March.

Cascade construction begins
The Cascade Project construction is anticipated to start Wednesday, April 4. All construction work is planned to get done this fall, said Director of Facilities Mike Stifter.

Barefoot campus walk aims to raise awareness
On Thursday, April 5, UW-River Falls Falcon Programs will be putting on the event TOMS One Day Without Shoes walk to raise awareness. This event is an international event which usually takes place on April 10.

Swimming and diving face challenges in WIAC
The Falcons swimming and diving teams are striving to improve in the competitive Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC). Both the men’s and women’s teams finished the 2011-12 season in sixth place, both behind UW-Oshkosh as predicted, according to the UW-River Falls website.
