Students present BFA exhibitions
University of Wisconsin-River Falls seniors Rachael Starke, Krysta Fisher, Kristopher Stempel, Timothy David Luedtke, and Risa Matz will present their Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree exhibitions in Gallery 101 in the Kleinpell Fine Arts building Oct. 23-Nov. 2. On display will be ceramics, mixed media paintings, printmaking and bookbinding.

Yik Yak app shows repercussions of student anonymity
In 2013, a new social media application was launched that allowed people to post updates anonymously and see other's posts based on location. This app was called Yik Yak, and almost it almost instantly become popular, especially in university towns.

University Theatre presents 'The Spitfire Grill'
The University of Wisconsin-River Falls University Theatre will present "The Spitfire Grill," Oct. 29-31 and Nov. 5-7, in the Blanche Davis Theatre located in the Kleinpell Fine Arts building. All performances begin at 7:30 p.m.

Student senate proves its new staff's conviction early
On Monday, Sept. 28, Student Senate held an “It’s On Us” event that accumulated 200 students and community members to spread the word about sexual assault prevention. On Thursday, Oct. 8, senate’s newly founded sustainability committee had its first official meeting. Only a month into the new academic year, it seems as though senate has a new sense of purpose.

‘It’s on Us’ panel brings about sex assault discussions
The “It’s on Us” event on Monday, Sept. 28 had a lot going for it: an emotional and thought-provoking documentary, a panel discussion with knowledgeable experts and a turnout of over 200 students and community members, all led by a well-meaning Student Senate. Even Chipotle, a restaurant popular among college students, came out to cater the event. But what the event also included was a controversial comment from Gregg Heinselman, associate vice chancellor for student affairs and Title IX coordinator for UW-River Falls.

Student safety around local bars should be high priority for UWRF
Students at UW-River Falls have plenty of options on where to go get drunk. Considering how small River Falls is as a city, there are definitely more than enough bars and stores to get your fixing for alcohol alleviated.

Students should remain positive in wake of budget cuts
It’s no secret that UWRF and the whole UW-System have faced harsh cuts. And with the ongoing tuition freeze, it is impossible for colleges, including UWRF, to recoup their losses in income.
