UWRF Dance Theatre showcases talent at spring concert
The University of Wisconsin-River Falls’ Dance Theatre showcased 13 dance routines at their 2024 spring concert, which was held from Jan. 31 to Feb. 3 in the Blanche David Theatre. The event featured various dance forms, including modern, ballroom, jazz, ballet, hip hop, and other forms, and represented the efforts of 24 dancers, 12 choreographers, and ten supporting crew members.

Deb Toftness: the woman behind the Falcon Daily
Since the first issue of the Falcon Daily was sent to UW-River Falls employees on Nov. 1, 2005, the email newsletter has provided the university’s faculty and staff with news and information relevant to UWRF and its community. “Employees and others may submit short blurbs about events, speakers, retirements, new employees, condolences… to [the] Falcon Daily,” said Deb Toftness, who has been the editor of the Falcon Daily since its 2005 debut.

UWRF students win national award for innovative dairy product
A team of five UW-River Falls students won a national award in the Dairy Management Inc. New Product Competition on July 17, 2023. Students Yihong Deng, Ashley Gruman, Rafael Larosiliere, Kate Petersen, and Anna Euerle developed a product called RootCurd, which took first place in the competition. The competition focused on “products that calm,” according to its guidelines, “with a heightened emphasis on mental and emotional wellbeing."

UWRF alum directs street art project
When the city of River Falls reached out to the UW-River Falls Art Department to create a mural at the intersection of Main and Division streets, Moz Rude jumped at the chance. Rude graduated from UW-River Falls with a bachelor’s degree in art. Their degree, however, focused on ceramics, not painting. “I had never done a mural before,” Rude said.

Board of Regents visit UWRF
On Oct. 5 and Oct. 6, 2023, UW-River Falls hosted the UW System Board of Regents for the first time since 2014. The Board of Regents, which is responsible for UW System policies, met on the UWRF campus to discuss finances, education, and more for the UW System.

UWRF Finals Fest set for end of April, to feature Nur-D
As the semester nears an end and summer approaches, so does UW-River Falls’ Finals Fest. The event is set for April 28, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., and will feature a pre-party on the University Center lawn, as well as a performance by hip-hop artist Nur-D.

Stage and Screen Arts premieres 'Miss Havisham'
The UW-River Falls Stage and Screen Arts (SASA) Program held a red carpet premiere of the short film "Miss Havisham" on Feb. 16.
