On the value of internships and related experiences

Nearly 15 internships, multiple freelance writing and related opportunities, and one fellowship project.

Without context, that might seem like a lot, and you may think I'm broke. There's some truth to that statement, but with 365 days in a year, there's ample time to invest in opportunities to learn and grow. Some opportunities were weeklong, and some didn't pay as much – most were compensated through an hourly rate, scholarships, or travel reimbursements – but they were valuable in many ways.

UW-River Falls students attend national convention

After a virtual convention in 2020, many eager UWRF students were excited to travel to Indianapolis, Indiana once again for the annual convention and expo. The event brought in over 60,000 FFA members, guests, and alumni and supporter members. UWRF students were not only accepting awards, receiving their American FFA Degree, and volunteering, but the UWRF Agricultural Education Society and Alpha Tau Alpha (ATA) competed and recruited potential students.

UWRF team competes in world dairy expo

After almost 2 years since Marie Haase judged a contest she said, “It felt really good to be back!” The UWRF Dairy Judging team took a year off due to the pandemic, but they prevailed to keep the tradition alive this year with traditional contests at Viroqua, WI earlier in September and at World Dairy Expo in Madison on the purple shavings September 27.
