Daredevil season 3 returns to the show’s roots, plays to its strengths

Out of all of Netflix’s Marvel shows, Daredevil has consistently outdone its peers. In the realms of storytelling, fight choreography, and a dedicated following, it has matched or beat out the other Marvel series.

The Student Voice reviews 'Spotlight'

In honor of student journalism’s return to campus, I decided to review one of the best tributes to the trade in recent memory. 2015’s “Spotlight” tells the story of the Pulitzer-winning Boston Globe team who uncovered longstanding patterns of sexual abusive behavior in the Catholic Church. The movie not only tactfully handles on difficult subjects, but also provides one of the most realistic depictions of journalists’ day to day work.

Before the doors opened, caterers and event coordinators were busily providing finishing touches to their contributions. As people crowded into the University Center’s ballroom, the sound of lively conversation filled the area. Unlike most university-hosted events, this one consisted of more than just college students and faculty. Members from the River Falls community gathered for the ninth annual Bowls for Hope event this past Tuesday.

In business for over 90 years, the Falls Theater is a destination for local moviegoers and anyone hoping to watch a first run movie at a historic site. Earlier this month, the theater in downtown River Falls received a sizeable grant from the state of Wisconsin for renovation and expansion. In addition to driving new traffic to the theater itself, the renovation is intended to further stimulate the local economy.

Portugal. The Man rocks the Palace Theatre

Before they took to the stage last Friday, Portugal. The Man set the expectations for the rest of the night. A message appeared on the screen behind the stage reading, “We are not very good at stage banter, so tonight’s performance will feature some slogans written by our management. Thank you for your continued understanding.”
