Annual International Bazaar brings different cultures together for a night of entertainment

On Tuesday, March 29th, the Global Programming Society hosted an International Bazaar in the UC Ballroom. The Bazaar, an annual event, featured two parts: first, a dinner with a variety of ethnic foods, and second, a show with a variety of performances inspired by different cultures.

Astronomy professor hosts popular series of talks and viewings

Tuesday night at 8 p.m. was the sight of a public Astronomy talk in the Centennial Science Hall. Professor Eileen Korenic spoke for half an hour about the gravitational constant, in one of a series of talks that she gives throughout the semester.

Day of the Dead celebrated as part of UWRF's Year of Mexico

The Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, festival held from 10 am to 7 pm in the UC on Monday was like a flashback from an 8th grade Spanish lesson--except better. For those of you who haven’t had that particular Spanish class, the scene was set with a huge colored poster reading : Remembering Our Loved Ones, The Day of the Dead, stretched across the conference room next to the cafeteria

New campus carry proposal sparks debate

At this point in time, no UW System schools and technical colleges permit concealed guns in university buildings. However, a bill proposed in early October would make concealed weapons legal in all UW System schools, taking away the individual colleges’ rights to choose a stance on the matter themselves.

UWRF student and mother wins Wisconsin Powerball Lottery

UWRF student Pamela Dwyer won the September 30th Powerball Lottery for $1 million. 48-year-old Dwyer is a non-traditional student with two grown children, a love of running, and a kind demeanor. She is getting her bachelor's degree at River Falls.

'Glow Run' a bright, fun success

This year’s Homecoming weekend was the scene of the “Glow Run,” a late-night, glow-stick-lit jaunt around campus for students to participate in. It’s an activity organized by the RHA (Residence Hall Association), and was heavily attended on the Saturday night when it was held.

River Falls holds first Noon Coffee Concert

On Friday, the 25th of September, a new sound took the stage at River Falls. This year’s first Noon Coffee Concert—one in a series of five—was held in the Abbott Concert Hall of the Kleinpell Fine Arts building.

Homecoming has many events to look forward to

Homecoming is drawing near, and with it, a plethora of exciting activities at River Falls. To name a few highlights coming up: Falcons Got Talent, the parade, and the Homecoming football game. Homecoming also involves visits from parents and alumni, displays of school spirit, and Minions playing all weekend in the theater. It’s a time to have fun, get excited about River Falls, and participate around campus; here are a few options.
