Time-management skills come with college years

I woke up this morning and it hit me that there are only two weeks of classes left before finals. After I stopped hyperventilating over how much work I still have to do before the end of the semester, I realized just how quickly the semester has gone.

Options offered to relieve stress

Long gone are the days of elementary school when students watched movies and ate ice cream at the end of semesters.

Media creates double standard in Iraq

We live in a country where there is freedom of the press. This means that American viewers should expect to receive as close to balanced coverage as possible.

Facebook segregates students

Online social networks like Facebook and MySpace are the fastest growing new trend on the Web. They are a great way for people to interact, stay in touch with friends, and meet people with similar interests. People in the Facebook or MySpace community usually meet others with their same interests by joining or creating groups. This is usually a harmless way to bring together people with similar interests, but recently Facebook has been corrupted by groups that see the racist sentiment.

Campus could get more use out of local sports station

Shortly after I got to school this year I hooked up my television and started flipping through the channels to find out what new channels the University had added. The first one I came across was MTVU. Vote for increase in school funding

After 15 minutes of working on a difficult math problem, a student raises his hand in an attempt to flag down his teacher for help. Ten minutes later his hand is still raised and his elbow is starting to ache. After 20 minutes he thinks, “Ah, screw it. By the time the teacher gets over to me it’s going to be nearly the end of class and he’s not going to have adequate time to help me.” His arm falls to the desk and he decides to close his math book.

Drunkards should stay put

"He went through the windshield of his truck," is all I can remember thinking about that fateful day of my senior year in high school.

Sudanese forgotten, not lost

A small African child cowers in the corner of his family’s modest hut, his body shaking uncontrollably. He watches as his father is dragged out into the street by a group of armed militiamen. A rifle is placed to the back of the man’s head, and with a single shot the life is taken out of him. His lifeless body falls to the ground and a torrent of blood stains the gravel road red.

Get active in orgs that matter

With the start of a new school year comes the opportunity for students to get involved in numerous on-campus
organizations. A great way to meet new people, become familiar with important issues and make a difference.
