Change in polling locations has little affect on student voting

UPDATE: River Falls City Clerk Lu Ann Hecht said that a main difference in the 2012 election compared to 2008 is that UW-River Falls students now have to vote at two different locations, the University Center and the River Falls High School. However, she said that so far this has not had an impact on voter turnout.

UPDATE: As of 1:25 p.m. the City of River Falls City Clerk Lu Ann Hecht said that voter turnout in River Falls is similar to the 2008 numbers thus far when 69 percent of eligible voters voted.  In 2008 8,262 people voted in River Falls.

UPDATE: As of 12:25 p.m. 2,794 people have voted in the four polling locations in River Falls according to the City of River Falls Deputy Clerk Bridget Hieb.

UPDATE at 12:20 p.m.: The Student Voice talked to a woman who has voted in Minnesota and Wisconsin.  This is a felony; you can only vote in one state per election.

As of 11:45 a.m. 648 people have voted at the University Center according to Carol Zalusky, the chief election official at the UC. She said this is below the pace of the 2008 levels, but anything can still happen. Stay tuned for more election day coverage from the Student Voice.
