‘Preparation meets opportunity’ at 2011 UW-River Falls Career Fair

October 7, 2011

The 20th Annual Career Fair will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 19 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the UC Riverview Ballroom.

This year’s theme is “Where Preparation Meets Opportunity.” The Career Fair gives students the opportunity to meet and network with potential employers and graduate school recruiters after all the hard work and preparation they have invested. A 2010 student attendee stated that, “I gained an invaluable experience speaking with professionals in my field of interest, gaining a better understanding of the jobs which are available to me, and learning to be proactive in the outcome of my own future.”

UWRF Career Services has increased its efforts to prepare students for the Career Fair by enhancing the prep session that will be offered on Monday, Oct. 17 from 2-4 p.m. in the UC Falcon’s Nest. The session will feature hands-on stations for students to learn about and practice networking, conversing with recruiters, creating appropriate applicationmaterials, dressing professionally and researching organizations.

Students will also have the opportunity to visit one of the help tables available on Monday, Oct. 17 and Tuesday, Oct. 18 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the UC Heritage Hall (entryway) for resume critiques and Career Fair information.

More information on the Career Fair, attending organizations and preparation materials can be found at http://www.uwrf. edu/CareerFair or by contacting Career Services at 425-3572, 211 Hagestad Hall.
