Family Day at UWRF

Family day starts Friday, October 10th, at 6pm, kicking off with a UWRF Women’s Volleyball tournament and events start at 7:30am on Saturday, October 11th, with Saturday morning cartoons at the Kinni Theatre in the University Center. This years schedule includes a silent auction, open skate at the Hunt Arena, several showings of Wall-E at the Kinni Theatre, a scavenger hunt, a UWRF football game, and a big event finish featuring Comedy Sportz and Step Afrika. All events are free for UWRF students and children five and under. The fee is $12 for adults and others six years of age and older. The fee includes all meals, events, and a Family Day shirt. Voter registration in the UC

Student Senate will host a voter registration table in the lobby of the UC on Monday and Tuesday, October 13th and 14th.

UWRF sorority to hold “Run for Roses”

On Saturday, October 11th, UWRF sorority Alpha Omicron Pi will host a 5k race and 1k kids fun run to raise money for juvenile arthritis. The race starts at Veterans Park and goes through the streets of River Falls. Race day registration will be from 7:45 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. The 5k race will start at 9am, followed by the 1k kids fun run (children under 12) at 9:45am.The entry fee for the 5k is $10 for students and $25 for others and $12 for the 1k kids fun run. Forms are available at the Involvement Center front desk in the University Center, Knowles complex, on the Alpha Omicron Pi website www.uwrf.edu/aoii, or by emailing alphaomicronpi@uwrf.edu and requesting a registration form. Walk for domestic violence awareness

On Saturday, October 11, join the Journey House Campus Ministry for a 2 mile walk through downtown River Falls and stay after for food, games, prizes, and more! They will meet at the Journey House at 9:15 and walk over to Glen Park together. Registration starts at 9am and the program begins at 10am. The walk is free and pledges are not required for registration.

Career Services to host career fair

Career services will have its annual career fair on Wednesday, October 15th at the University Center Riverview Ballroom from 10am to 3pm. There will be 90 organizations attending and six graduate schools. Career services is also looking for volunteers to help with various tasks like set up and student registration. Grammy Award winning drum group comes to UWRF

On Thursday October 16, Global Drum Project, a Grammy Award winning global percussion group, will reunite to celebrate the fifteen-year anniversary of the critically acclaimed album Planet Drum. The first ever Grammy Award winner in the World Music Category, this all-star global percussion ensemble, highlighting percussionists from India, Africa, Cuba, and North America, defines the term "world beat." Featuring Mickey Hart, Zakir Hussain, Sikiru Adepoju, and Giovanni Hidalgo. For advanced tickets call the University Center at (715) 425-3911.Ticket Prices are $10 for General Public, $5 for seniors and juniors (18 and under), and free for UWRF Students and children (6 and under). The concert will be held at the North Hall auditorium at 8pm.
