Ritter named conference player of the week
Posted on Feb 05, 2009
UW-River Falls junior goalie Stephan Ritter was named NCHA player of the week.
Ritter stopped 70 shots in two games against UW-Stevens Point and UW-Eau Claire last weekend.
He now has a 9-6-1 record and a 2.61 goals against average.
His .922 save percentage is fourth in the NCHA among regular starters.
Ritter might have saved a lost season with his performance against then ranked teams last weekend. He made an incredible 41 saves against Eau Claire in what ended up being a circus with all the post game brawls.
Expect Ritter to start against No. 8 St. Norbert College on Friday night. If UWRF wins, freshman Bo Storozuk might get some action against Lake Forest College (Ill.), which has not won an NCHA game this season.
Full game preview on Friday afternoon.
